Community Seed Banks Workshop
On September 22nd 2017 DIVERSIFOOD organized the “Community Seed Banks” workshop at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy.
The workshop aimed at stimulating and further sharing the perspectives around Community Seed Banks that emerged worldwide and play an important role for the dynamic management of agricultural diversity and for food sovereignty.
The workshop was planned as a dialogue forum with participation of CSB initiatives from all over the world, including European countries, with representatives from the International Treaty, Bioversity International and DIVERSIFOOD project, including the research sector and civil society.
Discussion and reflection reverted around the questions: What are the strengths of and challenges for CSBs today? What shall be their future role for agricultural diversity and food security in Europe? What must be done to strengthen Community Seed Banks?
